About the Pod

As therapists, Lindsay and Ilyse aid clients in healing from trauma on a daily basis, but what happens when therapists go through their own difficulties alongside their clients? That’s what The Hilling Journey Podcast is all about.

As Lindsay dealt with the loss of her mother and divorce a year later, and Ilyse dealt with her own divorce while raising her children, they found deep solace in their friendship to move through difficult times. Of course they also found solace in The Real Housewives, bird watching, grief retreats, Beyoncé, medium readings, tarot cards, legal drugs, Taylor Swift, and more.

This podcast explores the depths of healing with these friends by the listener’s side.

The hosts explore what it means to heal through the joy and grief of their own ‘hilling journey,’ with guests who are doing their own work in the hilling arts.

Everyone deserves accompaniment on their hilling journey, for this work is too deep and dark to go alone.

Thank you Laura Morsman for our photos and Benjamin Martian for editing.  Both rockstars.

Meet Ilyse

Ilyse Kennedy, LPC-S, LMFT-S, SEP is a trauma therapist and group practice owner in Austin, TX. Her practice, Moving Parts Psychotherapy, has become one of the go-to therapy practices in Austin for those recovering from complex trauma. Through her practice, she supervises associates pursuing licensure to expand her unique way of working with trauma to the world. Her book, The Tender Parts: A Guide to Healing Trauma Through Internal Family Systems Therapy was released in 2022 and has been a companion for those interested in her work who cannot see her for therapy. On her own hilling journey, she’s found comfort traveling to foreign lands for enriching experiences including Ireland for a Grief Retreat and the UK for a Taylor Swift concert.

Meet Lindsay
